Making a Call

  1. Click the Dial Pad icon
  2. Type the extension number or external phone number
  3. Press Call or hit Enter

You can also search for a colleague in Contacts and click the phone icon next to their name.

Receiving Calls

When a call comes in, a notification appears in the browser and/or your system tray. Click Answer to take the call. Make sure your microphone and speaker (or headset) are selected under the web client’s audio settings.

Browser permission: The first time you receive a call, your browser will ask permission to use your microphone. Click Allow.

Setting Your Audio Devices

  1. Click the Settings gear icon
  2. Go to Audio
  3. Select your preferred microphone, speaker, and ringtone device

If you’re using a headset, select it here so calls route to your headset rather than your computer speakers.

Checking Colleague Availability

The Status indicator next to each contact shows:

  • 🟢 Green — Available
  • 🟡 Yellow — Away
  • 🔴 Red — Do Not Disturb or on a call
  • Grey — Offline

This lets you see at a glance whether a colleague is free before transferring a call to them.

Accessing Voicemail

Click the Voicemail icon in the left sidebar. You’ll see a list of messages with the caller number, time, and duration. Click the play button to listen, or click the email icon to forward the message to your inbox.

Internal Chat

3CX includes built-in chat between colleagues. Click the Chat icon and select a contact to start a conversation. Chats are private and not recorded.

Logging Out

Click your name or avatar in the top right, then Sign Out. Your extension will continue to ring on any other active device (desk phone, mobile app) while you’re logged out of the web client.
