Programming BLF & Speed Dial Keys on Yealink Phones

Line keys on Yealink phones can show the real-time status of other extensions and let you dial or intercept calls with a single press. Here's how to configure them via 3CX or directly on the phone.

What Is BLF?

BLF (Busy Lamp Field) is a line key that monitors another extension in real time. The key lights up to show the extension's current state:

Light StateMeaning
Off / GreenExtension is available
Solid RedExtension is on a call
Flashing RedExtension is ringing (incoming call)

You can press a BLF key to call that extension directly, or press it while it's flashing to intercept (pick up) an incoming call ringing on that extension — without leaving your desk.

How Many Line Keys Does My Phone Have?

Method 1: Via 3CX Admin Console (Recommended)

Configuring line keys through 3CX is the preferred method — changes push automatically to the phone without logging in to each device individually.

  1. Log in to the 3CX Admin Console.
  2. Go to Extensions and click the extension you want to configure.
  3. Open the Line Keys tab.
  4. For each key slot, select the key type (BLF, Speed Dial, or Intercom), enter the extension number or destination in the Value field, and add a Label (the name that appears on screen).
  5. Click Save. The 3CX server pushes the updated configuration to the phone automatically — the phone will refresh or reboot briefly to apply the changes.

Line key changes from 3CX Admin Console override anything set directly on the phone. If you configure keys on the phone's web interface and the phone later re-provisions from 3CX, the server-side configuration will overwrite the local settings.

Method 2: Via the Yealink Web Interface

If you need to make a quick change directly on the phone — or if 3CX Admin access isn't available — you can use the phone's built-in web interface.

Finding the Phone's IP Address

  1. On the phone, press the OK or Menu button.
  2. Navigate to Status › Network.
  3. Note the IP address shown (e.g., 192.168.1.45).

Configuring Keys on the Web Interface

  1. Open a web browser on a computer connected to the same network as the phone.
  2. Type the phone's IP address into the browser address bar and press Enter.
  3. Log in with username admin and password admin (default credentials).
  4. Navigate to the DSS Key or Line Key tab (the exact label varies by model).
  5. For each key you want to program, set the following:
    • Type: BLF, Speed Dial, or Intercom
    • Value: the extension number to monitor or dial
    • Label: the name to display on the phone screen
  6. Click Confirm at the bottom of the page. The phone applies the changes and may briefly reboot.

If BLF Keys Aren't Working After Provisioning

BLF monitoring requires the phone to be subscribed to presence updates from the 3CX server. This subscription is set up automatically during provisioning. If keys are lit incorrectly or not responding, contact DVGVoIP — line key configuration is typically managed from the server side and may require a re-provisioning or a server-side presence subscription reset.
